International Partner Programme
Down under – on the other side of the world. Sydney, Bondi Beach, unending expanses of sheep and cattle pastures. New South Wales, in south-eastern Australia, is where dreams come true. But what's life actually like for the people who live there? What do they work as? Our international exchange programme offers you the chance to broaden your own horizons, increase your foreign language skills and gain experience in working with people from other cultures. We offer you the chance to really experience the country, not just as a tourist. Our second year, switchgear construction apprentices, have the chance to work for up to four months with our Australian partner KE Brown and experience the Australian way of life - Friends around the world.
What are you learning? As one of our apprentices, you'll be able to give a rather unusual answer to this question; I'm learning how to use a lathe, as well as milling and welding! During your training period, you will be given the chance to work with well-known automotive parts suppliers and mechanical engineers based in the region and learn everything there is to know about metal working. This is crucial, as an extensive technical knowledge, which deals with much more than your specialist area does, is essential for your future success – Friends around the corner.
You not just learning for school, but rather for life. All of us have heard something similar from teachers or parents. As it happens school doesn't have a great deal to do with the working world and only a small amount of what you learn there is of any use in practice. For this reason, we aren't just concerned with improving your practical skills, we also place great emphasis on keeping you motivated and building up your sense of self-responsibility. You'll be shown useful practical tips and new techniques in your seminars and workshops, and be made an active participant in the decision making process of your department - Learning for life.
