Hard Rock Café

The legend lives

No Hard Rock Café is quite like any other, and yet they all have the same unique flair that captivated Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend and many other greats in their time. Delicious burgers, sandwiches and salads, authentic relics of the unforgettable legends of the rock scene on the walls and music all the way from pop to heavy metal make a visit to a Hard Rock Café a stunning assault on all the senses.

The renowned restaurant chain started up in 1971 and now has more than 150 locations worldwide. Its traditions and the special Hard Rock atmosphere are of course inviolable, but the Hard Rock people have always been a bit ahead of their time, enlisting the aid of forward-thinking architects and designers to create new and unconventional trends. Mangelberger is immensely proud to have joined the team responsible for the redevelopment of the Berlin Café.

The Berlin architect Arne Wolfgramm and the London interior designers, Cadmium Design, were entrusted with the development of the basic concept and the reconstruction of the Berlin café, while Mangelberger standardized the power distribution and light controls, put the energy management in place and set up the entire power technology system.

The cooperation between Mangelberger and Hard Rock fell into place piece by piece. First came the development of a standardized and internationally duplicable power distribution system at Mangelberger head office in Roth, and then the award of the contract for its full installation at the Berlin cult café. Chief executive Jürgen Mangelberger is specially proud that Hard Rock also decided to use the customized LightControl system: "In recent years we have made an extremely detailed analysis of the requirements of the restaurant business for light production, flexibility and energy efficiency. The results speak for themselves. An exhaustive variety of lighting effects can be adjusted, simply, easily and precisely, to the needs of the restaurant itself, the time of day and to any special occasion."

The technology Mangelberger developed for Hard Rock does not only reduce investment and operating costs via the LightControl system. The standardized power distribution unit, locked into the integrated energy management system, also carries out a continual analysis and optimization of operating times, room temperatures and peak demand. "Energy saving is at last on the global agenda. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers in the restaurant sector a whole range of products that take energy-reduction needs into account."
