Block House Switzerland

It was more than 300,000 years ago that people first settled in the famous "Rhine Knee", which today divides Basel in two. And no wonder: the climate of this city, with its border triangle setting, tends to be sunny and mild. Basel is Switzerland's third largest city, and its typical residents used to be merchants and tradesmen. These days they're scientists, engineers and bankers from all over the world. Art, literature and haute cuisine are given pride of place in the old university town, so it was almost inevitable that Block House, the Hamburg-based restaurant chain, would open its first Swiss outlet here, in September 2009.

Mangelberger's contribution to this pilot project was a standardized system made up of power distribution, light control and energy management. Among other features, the targeted monitoring of the energy consumption of various devices, such as the refrigeration systems and the energy-intensive kitchen equipment, as well as the peak-load management, are meticulously lined up with Block House requirements.
