McDonald´s Republik Moldau

Short stories from a varied past

What do Chisinau, and Rome have in common? Both were built on seven hills. Even if the capital of Moldavia is not nearly as famous as its bigger sister, many impressive cultural monuments and buildings, which have been preserved through its eventful history, can also be found in the metropolis of the small country between Romania and the Ukraine. And just like Rome, the international branch of McDonald's wasn’t built in a day, the expansion in the southeast of Europe began only with the political changes at end of the 90's.

In 1998 Mangelberger went with McDonald's to Moldavia, in order to support the establishment of the first restaurant in the center of Chisinau with the supply and installation of its standard technology. As is the case for all new markets, our project managers additionally took on the training and briefing of the employees and specialist planners on the operation of the central control – a part of our work which is always interesting and personally enriching. Many Europeans only know Moldavia from the Eurovision Song Contest. Over the course of the many years of co-operation, we have also become acquainted with the friendly and helpful people, who live there.
