Rent free & half board
Even hedgehogs want a quiet place to hibernate: That’s why we steer clear of leaf blowers and create winter shelters for these little critters.
While we’re cozying up at home, some others don’t have it quite so easy - like hedgehogs themselves. Where piles of leaves and brushwood used to be, we now have manicured parks and immaculately maintained gardens. And when the autumn leaves become too much for people, out comes the leaf blower - and suddenly, it’s a real challenge for a hedgehog to find a suitable spot for winter hibernation.
Hedgehogs are incredibly useful creatures, yet their numbers in Europe are sadly declining. Due to global warming, they’re finding fewer insects to eat. The use of pesticides is another blow. And if a hedgehog does manage to survive all the challenges of daily life, it might still be caught off guard by a car tire while crossing the road. Honestly, it’s all far from ideal.
Rent free for hedgehogs
At Mangelberger, we believe hedgehogs deserve a helping hand. That’s why we gather piles of leaves in protected corners on our premises to provide these little spiny creatures with cozy winter shelters.
And it’s not just rent-free accommodation - we also offer half board, in the form of regular servings of high-quality wet and dry food with a high meat content. Plus, we’ve introduced a curfew for leaf blowers, so our hedgehogs can enjoy a peaceful and comfortable winter season.
We keep on moving!
