Millions for research project
Munich / Roth - The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) is funding the AR KI DES sustainability project submitted by Mangelberger Elektrotechnik GmbH with several million euros as part of the GreenTech Innovation Program.
The AR KI DES research project involves the fully automated dismantling of end-of-use switchgears, for example, as well as the targeted separation and recycling of raw materials contained inside this boards. Part of the project, in addition to the recognition of all installed components, is the robot-assisted material and raw material analysis of the components used by means of laser-induced plasma spectroscopy. Through AI, images, dimensional-, user- and raw material data are combined and matched with global databases. Plastics are separated by type and reshaped. Partners within the project are the companies Breit Formenbau KG and E-Braun Sondermaschinenbau, as well as the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAPS).
The kick-off event for the trend-setting project took place on May 3, 2023 at the premises of Mangelberger Elektrotechnik GmbH.
Potential for technicians and working students:
In addition to various high-tech projects, the AR KI DES research project also holds further scope for innovative jobs and trend-setting tasks. Corresponding job offers can be found on the websites of the respective companies.
