We take care
Difficult times? We take care. And thanks to many years of preparation, we can offer our customers reliable supplies.
Loyalty, high standards, and foresight guide our actions. Mangelberger has already proven this during the COVID-19 pandemic and the period since. As early as 2022, innovative concepts such as the repurchase of end-of-use switchgear were integrated into daily operations to ensure delivery capability.
Independence as a strategy
> The “Power Fall” concept was developed to complement this. In connection with this, our switchgear was restructured so that switchgear manufactured by us offers the possibility of classifying and prioritizing essential consumers in the event of regulation of the available electrical power.
> As part of the “Spare Part Index” measure, we looked at how many different electrical components needed to be procured on the one hand and kept in stock for ongoing service purposes during the first two life cycles of the distribution system on the other. The result was that the number of different components could be reduced once again. The goal: a customer should need a maximum of nine different spare parts for all distribution systems supplied by Mangelberger.
> Using supply chain management, we had already indexed our suppliers by 2024. Key performance indicators for delivery performance, delivery accuracy, on-time delivery, lead time, and logistical performance were established and are continuously evaluated using AI. Based on the findings, four suppliers were replaced or eliminated using the SPI concept. Purchases of goods from China were reduced to almost zero.
Continuous innovation & circularity
Despite all these measures and successes, we have continued to evolve. For example, electronic assemblies have been converted to chips, which not everyone needs in large quantities. Neither for vehicles nor for washing machines. Because here, too, we have learned from the coronavirus pandemic. It is not always the best way to focus on what everyone needs.
The electronic components we manufacture have been tested for a second and third life. Concepts such as “design to repair” and “design for reuse” have also been improved.
In addition to this, we have further optimized our supply chains. We have made ourselves even more independent from global raw material suppliers in order to secure our demand for copper busbars. We have also prepared alternative concepts, such as switching to aluminum.
Mindful of the future
100% security? That's hardly possible... for example, if we no longer have any electricity, our photovoltaic systems can no longer keep up, our battery systems run out, we no longer have any diesel for emergency power, and we therefore run out of light.
Nevertheless, we believe, we are well prepared and are carefully looking in the right direction. We can therefore assure our customers that until now, we do not currently foresee any restrictions in our ability to deliver, and this will remain the case for the foreseeable future.
