Switchgear for chain stores at Mangelberger's plant, technician at the distribution wall

Chain stores make our switchgear their standard

Our electrical distribution boards have become the standard for numerous national and international chain stores. Year after year, we equip around 600 stores worldwide with our modular switchgear.

Why do so many chain stores rely on our switchgear? Because we draw on decades of experience to develop tailor-made solutions. And, if desired, we stand by our customers' side from planning through to final commissioning.

How does a store rollout work?

First, we analyse your requirements – ideally by visiting some of your existing stores. This is followed by the electrical planning of the new store – from the sockets in every room and connections for kitchen or refrigeration equipment, through fruit scales, tills and receipt printers, to all light fittings and interfaces, e.g. to central emergency lighting systems.

Based on the electrical distribution board we develop for you, detailed plans are drawn up for the kitchen and refrigeration, server and till systems. And if the architect or a lighting designer does not take care of it: we are also happy to help with planning lighting, Light Control and dimming circuits.

And then? Things get electrifying …

  • Development of a modular standard electrical distribution board tailored to your needs
  • Depending on requirements for in-store, mall store, food court, free-stander etc.
  • Certification of the developed distribution board to national standards
  • Development of tailor-made energy management to BAFA standard
  • Manufacture and delivery of the standard electrical distribution board

The grand finale. For your store.

If necessary, we temporarily support the regional contractor carrying out the work with the cabling and organise a personal Q&A in the store. And of course, on request we also help with electrical commissioning or provide one of our technical "caretakers" for the opening of a flagship store.

And for day-to-day operation? Our energy management could be of interest to you.

In 1985 we developed our first electrical installation for McDonald's, for a restaurant in Giessen. Today we are active on all five continents.

Perfect performance. With smart plug-ins.

Only a low connected load available in a building? Here, an energy management plug-in can pay for itself after just one day: because the utility does not need to reinforce the power supply line, which is often expensive and time-consuming.

If required, we are happy to advise you on our other plug-ins, e.g. for smart metering, HACCP or Light Control … for efficient control and analysis of your energy consumption.

Frequently asked questions about switchgear in chain stores

Who builds switchgear for stores and chain stores?

Often these are specialised companies such as Mangelberger which, thanks to many years of experience, are able to individualise electrical distribution boards so that they are tailored to the needs of the stores on the one hand and particularly cost-effective thanks to the highest possible degree of standardisation on the other.

From how many stores is it worth standardising the switchgear?

As a rule, from the very first store. The earlier the structure is thought through, the greater the savings potential when implementing further stores. Unnecessary installations are avoided, and the effort for future installations is reduced.

Which systems is a standardised control cabinet suitable for?

For almost all of those found in stores: the kitchen with all its equipment, server systems, till systems, lighting, air conditioning and refrigeration.

Why is standardised switchgear better?

Because it makes efficiency the standard. The distribution boards are planned and developed to cause minimal effort while working optimally. Distribution plans based on long-standing expertise guarantee ideal cable cross-sections, simplified documentation leads to shorter installation times – and store staff can usually fix minor faults themselves later on.

Is this switchgear suitable for use across countries?

Yes. We know the requirements for numbers of poles, back-up fuses, insulation classes and disconnection criteria. And yes, we already supply a large number of customers in several countries with identical technology.
