We developed our plug-in system in 2001. And have been optimising it ever since. So we can not only take your energy management or your lighting control to the next level. We also give you the option of taking your investment with you to a new store. Or selling it back to us.

At the heart of our energy management system is the “ZEMS” (central energy management system). The unit fits into switchgear manufactured by Mangelberger and – if you wish – can be individually activated, extended and configured precisely for the requirements of your store. Because stores may be similar. But they are always different.

You don’t want to replace your existing switchgear and ONLY want to use Mangelberger’s energy management? No problem: our ZEMS is also available as an “add-on” – a small, neat extra distribution box that is connected to your existing switchgear. If the store is refurbished later, a new distribution board can be installed and the existing ZEMS unit simply plugged in again.

Whatever your solution looks like: in the end you save space. Energy. And money. By using the ideal control system to get the power in your store flowing.

With modules such as “Kitchen Fire-Up”, which reduces switch-on peaks by switching kitchen appliances on in a controlled sequence, and “E-Max Control”, which switches off consumers such as electric boilers, heaters or door air curtains as required, the investment can pay for itself immediately: because although the building’s connected load is tight, energy management means there is no need to upgrade the electrical supply line.

That is exactly what happened at a pizzeria store: thanks to the ZEMS plug-in, there was no need to reinforce the main supply line. Direct cost saving: EUR 23,800.00.

Second life for plug-ins

Since 2021, we have been buying back ZEMS modules that are no longer needed for a residual value of at least 25 % of the purchase price. The plug-ins are tested, overhauled and kept ready for the next store at a reduced price with the original warranty period.

Frequently asked questions about plug-ins for flexible energy management

How flexibly can energy management for stores be controlled?

Very flexibly. With our central energy management control system (ZEMS), which is adapted to your store through modular configuration, energy consumption can be analysed in real time and processes and resources optimised intelligently – from kitchen equipment, HACCP and photovoltaics to e-mobility systems.

Are investments in energy management eligible for funding?

Yes, they are. By meeting DIN ISO 50001, the investments qualify for funding from the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA). Mangelberger not only supports DIN ISO 50001 certification of the respective system, but also helps with applying for the funding.

What happens to my technology if I close a store?

Mangelberger systems can simply be plugged in and out and so transferred from an old store to a new one. That way you avoid unnecessary investment. In addition, modules can be returned at the end of their service life.
