Saturday, 5 pm: a call from a quick service restaurant branch in Munich. A high-volume flagship store with the highest customer footfall. Normally, pizza and pasta are served here. But for now, dinner is off the menu: a burst water pipe has flooded the distribution board. Total kitchen failure. By 6 pm, one of our technicians is on site. Repairing the unit makes no sense. Instead, the robotics are instructed to build a replacement overnight, which is ready on Sunday morning at 10 am and installed by 10 pm that evening. From Monday, the place is purring like a kitten again.

How does a FastTrac order work, from the call to delivery?

Much like at a ski lift. When a ski class arrives, it goes to the front of the queue. In our case, that is a dedicated FastTrac workstation for our regular customers. When we receive a rush order, the robotics bring this unit forward, without holding up the rest of production. Built at its own station, the unit is routed past the other units on the production line, fitted straight away and handed over for final completion.

Which customers and types of switchgear does 24-hour manufacturing apply to?

All our framework-agreement customers can use FastTrac. Which unit is needed makes no difference: we can manufacture ALL the switchgear and control cabinets we use within 24 hours if required. And incidentally, that happens quite often: around 12% of our switchgear is supplied via FastTrac orders.

How do customers reach the right contact person in an emergency?

At Mangelberger, an AI tracks which project managers are handling which projects, in what number, variety and speed, for which countries. And of course we know who is in the building or available right now. The AI matches whoever matches best … and automatically assigns the ideal contact person directly.
