Switchgear for data centres at the Mangelberger plant, fitter at the distribution wall

Data centres

with standardised, scalable electrical infrastructure

For data centres, availability, speed and predictability are what count. Our switchgear combines automated manufacturing with modular, individually configurable solutions.

With our robotics and our own FastTrac lines, we manufacture standardised low-voltage distribution modules for recurring power ratings – for a reliable electrical infrastructure that is ready quickly and scales efficiently.

Planned to a standard.

Configured individually.

We develop a standardised switchgear solution for data centres for our customers. Instead of planning a completely new board for every project, we define only the number of basic types actually needed – for example for 125 A, 250 A, 400 A, 630 A or 800 A.

These types can be flexibly adapted to the respective application. Variants mainly result from:

  • the number and design of the outgoing feeders for servers and air-conditioning systems
  • the required metering and monitoring technology
  • the desired redundancy concept for greater resilience
  • the connection to communication and building management systems

The result is a modular, easy-to-plan system: standardised at its core, yet configurable to suit the requirements of each data centre.

Robot arm in production: automated series manufacturing of distribution boards for data centres

Automated and scalable

With 20, 50 or 100 similar distribution boards, our robot-assisted manufacturing unfolds its full power. Repeatable processes ensure high precision, consistent quality and cost-effective series production.

Available fast

When server capacity is ready, the electrical infrastructure should not be the bottleneck. Thanks to standardised base modules and fast configuration, we enable our customers to achieve true “rapid deployment”.

Stock in stock

We do not stock fully customer-specific boards, but the required base modules and components. As a rule, 80–90 % of the parts are available immediately and wait here with us for their individual configuration.

Predictable quality

Our switchgear is based on proven basic concepts that have been manufactured and tested again and again. This creates maximum reliability and consistent quality – whether it is the first board or the hundredth.

Factory-tested

Every board is fully wired, tested automatically and delivered with measurement and test reports. QR or Data Matrix codes enable unambiguous identification and efficient connection on site.

Digital twin included

With every switchgear assembly, we supply a digital data set with circuit diagram, bill of materials, protective device settings, test reports, firmware versions, spare parts lists and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).

Scaling CO₂ savings

A lower Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) makes a particular difference in large roll-outs. With 500 distribution boards and 150 kg CO₂e saved per board, the savings add up to 75 tonnes of CO₂e.

Our service.

For fast computing power.

Here is an example from practice. A data centre operator wants to set up 80 additional server racks as quickly as possible. This requires four more 400 A distribution boards. The normal process would be project planning with approval, then design, procurement, manufacturing, testing and finally delivery. That can take a while …

Fancy a faster solution? A “Data Center Fast Power Module” from Mangelberger: the order is for 4 × 400 A with a defined number of outgoing feeders, A+B supply, metering and communication. The design is generated automatically from the robot’s internal standard library, the switchgear is manufactured by robot, tested and delivered a few days later.

Frequently asked questions about switchgear for data centres

Who manufactures standardised switchgear and electrical distribution boards for data centres?

We at Mangelberger do. And we know what matters. So that the required capacity can be implemented quickly, we offer our customers modular, individually configurable solutions based on standardised blueprints.

What are the advantages of standardised switchgear for data centres?

So many that you would almost need a data centre to list them all. Here are the most important: manufacturing within a few days, efficient scalability and cost-effectiveness, maximum reliability, consistent quality and, on top of that, a reduced Product Carbon Footprint (PCF).

What additional advantages does Mangelberger offer its customers?

Decades of experience in developing switchgear and rolling it out worldwide. Robot-assisted manufacturing and FastTrac production lines make it possible to deliver the electrical distribution boards data centres need within a very short time, e.g. when capacity has to be expanded at short notice.
