Mangelberger office: advice on certification to DIN ISO 50001

ISO 50001

Certification for energy management

DIN ISO 50001 is the internationally recognised standard for energy management systems (EnMS). It provides a structured framework for recording energy use, controlling it systematically and optimising it continuously.

Our databases and systems are certified by TÜV Süd to DIN ISO 50001 and qualified for BAFA funding. So we can guarantee that we provide our customers with all the data they need for successful certification.

DIN ISO 50001 requires an ongoing management process:

  1. Record energy consumption in detail
  2. Identify large or relevant consumers, e.g. air conditioning or lighting
  3. Set targets and measures to reduce power consumption
  4. Measure, evaluate and continuously optimise results
Specialist literature on energy management: expertise for ISO 50001 certification

Our expertise.

For your certification.

We have already supported many well-known customers with certification to DIN ISO 50001. We would be happy to support you too – including with these measures:

  • ISO 50001 gap analysis
  • Definition of the EnMS scope
  • Energy review of SEUs (significant energy uses)
  • Creation of the metering concept
  • Building the energy database
  • Definition of energy performance indicators
  • Determination of relevant variables
  • Energy targets with action plan
  • Employee training
  • Monitoring with analyses
  • Internal customer audits
  • Final certification

Our data.

For your funding.

Our ALVA database is certified by TÜV Süd to generate the appropriate data to qualify for successful BAFA funding. We are happy to help with the funding application or refer you to established regional partners.

Available for audit and funding application:

  • Technical data sheets for ZEMS / plug-ins
  • List of metering points
  • List of data points
  • Data collection plan
  • Information on accuracy classes
  • Description of measuring intervals
  • Data storage register
  • Certificates of conformity
  • Invoice with separate line items

Frequently asked questions about ISO 50001 for stores

What exactly is DIN ISO 50001?

DIN ISO 50001 is the international standard for energy management systems (EnMS) for the structured recording of energy consumption and systematic, continuous process optimisation to reduce energy use.

What does BAFA fund when ISO 50001 is introduced?

Funding is available for investments that make an energy or environmental management system possible in practice or support it. These can include: energy management software that supports the introduction, maintenance or improvement of a system to DIN EN ISO 50001; metering, meter and sensor technology for recording energy consumption and energy flows; data loggers, gateways and analogue-to-digital converters for data transmission and integration; control technology whose main purpose is to reduce energy consumption; installation, commissioning and external training or instruction of staff for the funded software. How much funding does BAFA provide when ISO 50001 is introduced?

The BAFA grant on eligible investment costs is approx. 45 % of the costs for small companies, approx. 35 % for medium-sized companies and approx. 25 % for large companies (without SME status). For current figures please refer to: www.bafa.de

What is the most common mistake when preparing for DIN ISO 50001?

In our experience, the most common mistake is an overly complex metering point structure, which is difficult or almost impossible to integrate into existing systems that have grown “wild”.

Does Mangelberger provide all relevant measurement data for a BAFA audit?

Yes. Our databases and systems are themselves certified to DIN ISO 50001 and qualified for BAFA funding. We also provide our customers with comprehensive information on the product carbon footprint (PCF) of our switchgear.
